Kochi: The UAE Supreme Court has sentenced Kerala-born Bex Krishnan, the driver of the child’s death, to death in a car accident. Krishnan has now been reincarnated with the help of NRI businessman MA Yusuf.
45-year-old Bex Krishnan, a native of Puthenchira in Thrissur district, has been in the Al Wathba prison in Abu Dhabi for the past seven years. Bex Krishnan was working for a private company in Abu Dhabi on September 7, 2012 when he was driving to Musafah to attend a work meeting.
A Sudanese boy was killed in the crash. Abu Dhabi police have charged Krishnan with murder. The police had collected the CCTV footage as evidence and sentenced Krishna to death.
All attempts to save Krishnan have failed. Finally the family contacted NRI businessman MA Yusuf Ali with the help of BJP leader Sethumadhavan. Meanwhile, the family has returned to Sudan with the pain of losing a child. This made mediation efforts impossible.
But Yusuf Ali relentlessly went to Africa to find a family home in Sudan. There, Yusuf Ali succeeded in persuading the victims’ family to pardon Krishnan and bring him to Abu Dhabi.
The victim’s family agreed to forgive Krishnan in January 2021. Yusuf Ali then paid a compensation of 5 lakh Dirham (Rs 1 crore). Krishnan is expected to be released soon and will return to Kerala, a relative said.
I am waiting to meet Yusuf Ali, who has reincarnated. Krishnan said he was grateful that he had protected her.
