India - Central government overtaking America in at least one dose of vaccine

44 crores Coveshield, Kovaccine vaccine dose reserved center

New Delhi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new vaccine policy with effect from June 21, announcing a free vaccine and the government has reserved 44 crore vaccine doses on June 8.

About 44 crores of vaccines shielded by Covishield, Kovacsin, will be supplied between August and December, according to the Ministry of Health.

“Following the Prime Minister’s statement, the National Vaccine Policy Guidelines have been implemented and the Covidiol vaccine has been reserved by Bharat Biotech for 19 crore doses while the central government has reserved 25 crore doses of covalent shield vaccines from the Serum Institute of India,” the health ministry said.

In addition, up to 30 per cent has been paid for the collection of both vaccines.
