Islamabad: The government of Pakistan is now facing a global outcry over the abduction of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador, and the Afghan government has recalled its ambassador and senior officials in Pakistan.
The Afghan government has announced it will withdraw its ambassador and other senior staff from Islamabad following the abduction and torture of its ambassador’s daughter amid a diplomatic crisis between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
‘After the abduction of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, the Afghan government has decided to recall the ambassador to Afghanistan and senior Pakistani diplomats until all security threats, including the arrest and trial of the abductors, are resolved, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Similarly the Afghan delegation to Pakistan will visit soon and steps will be taken to assess and follow up on this case and all related issues.
Silsila Alikhil, the daughter of the Afghan ambassador, was abducted on Friday, July 16 in Islamabad. He was abducted by strangers on his way home in a rental car for several hours. Silsila was later charged with aggravated assault. However, details of the abduction were not shared. Silsila was admitted to hospital for treatment after being released by the kidnappers.
