New Delhi: The Karnataka government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Cauvery-Gundaru link project.
Cauvery – Gundaru Link Project, a project to divert excess water from the Cauvery and Kollidam rivers to the sea. The project will divert that water to the drought-stricken southern districts. The project will benefit arable lands in Karur, Trichy and Pudukottai districts in the first phase.
In the second phase, lands in Pudukottai, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts and thirdly in Virudhunagar districts will also benefit from the irrigation facility.
In this context, the Government of Karnataka has filed a petition in the Supreme Court objecting to the Cauvery-Gundaru connection project. It is noteworthy that the Government of Karnataka has opposed the Government of Tamil Nadu’s plan for the Megha Dadu project.
