Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uttam Thackeray has ordered the Mumbai corporation administration to be ready 24 hours a day for heavy rains.
Mumbai, Maharashtra has been receiving heavy rains for the past 10 days. The city was inundated by torrential rains at midnight the day before yesterday. Similarly, heavy rains are expected in NaviMumbai, Thane and Balkar districts. The public has been severely affected as water has seeped into homes in many areas. Road and rail transport has also been affected.
The Met Office has warned of heavy rains in Mumbai for the next five days. The city of Mumbai has been issued an Orange Alert for the next 5 days.
Rs 5 lakh relief
‘So far 17 people have been killed in floods and houses collapsed. 5 lakh rupees relief will be given to the families of the victims. Chief Minister Uttam Thackeray has directed the Mumbai corporation administration to be ready 24 hours a day to deal with heavy rains in the coming days.
