New Delhi: The Supreme Court has said that hospitals have forgotten humanity and become like real estate factories during the Corona era.
Five corona patients died in a fire at a Gujarat hospital last year. Following this, the Supreme Court itself came forward and registered a case regarding the safety of patients in hospitals. It also directed all states to set up district-wise committees to study the fire prevention safety features of hospitals and submit monthly reports. It also suggested closing hospitals where patients have an unsafe environment.
The Gujarat government has given till July 2022 to comply with the building safety norms as per the hospital management rules. Hospitals that are supposed to treat patients with compassion have become money distilleries.
They have forgotten about humanity and become like the real estate industry. Two or three rooms in an apartment are converted into a ‘nursing home’. There are no safety features, including fire protection. Such an environment can never be allowed. The Government of Gujarat should immediately withdraw the order issued against the order issued by the session. As well as the reason for issuing the order within a week. The case is adjourned for two weeks. Thus stated in the order.
