Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Gujarat today (May 19) to inspect the effects of the devastating ‘Docto’ storm.
In Gujarat, ‘Docte’ storm which crossed the coast last night has caused severe damage. Seven people were killed in the storm and flooding. Fifty houses were damaged. The power supply has been cut off as trees have been uprooted. The army removed fallen trees and poles and facilitated transportation. Government officials are in the process of surveying the storm damage details. Many are paralyzed inside their homes as floodwaters recede in many places.
In this context, Prime Minister Modi is going to Gujarat today to inspect the storm damage. From Delhi, Modi will fly to Bhavnagar, Gujarat at 9.30 am and visit the storm-hit area by helicopter. He will also visit Una, Diu, Jabarabad and Mahua. In Ahmedabad, he is also scheduled to hold consultations with the authorities.
