SrinagarLashkar-e-Taiba (LET) ‘s top commander is among the two terrorists killed in a late-night N counter attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Monday.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area of Check Sadiq Khan in south Kashmir district, where there is specific information about the militants, a police official said. He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire on them to retaliate.
“One of the killed terrorists has been identified as Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram, the top commander of the LTTE,” Dilbagh Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), said.
Singh, who has been active since Dar 2017, was responsible for a large number of terrorist crimes, including assaults and assaults on police, security forces and civilians.
Another terrorist was identified as Majid Iqbal, he said.
The overnight operation is over, a senior police officer from Jammu and Kashmir said.
An army officer said eight magazines and two acreifiles were confiscated from the site of the encounter.
