Islamabad: At least 16 members of the same family were killed when a passenger van overturned in the Indus River in Pakistan.
In our neighboring country of Pakistan, 16 people from the same family traveled in a rental van from Silas in Gilgit-Baltistan province to Rawalpindi yesterday. On the way, the van, which was traveling in a mountainous area near Paniba in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, suddenly plunged into the Indus River, killing 17 people, including the driver.
Informed rescue workers arrived and began retrieving the bodies. Due to the high depth and roughness of the Indus River, the work was delayed. Thus, the search for the bodies continues with the help of local people.
