HELSINGHI: Finnish Prime Minister Channa Marin has launched a police investigation into allegations that she withdrew the cost of her breakfast from the government.
Sanna Marin, 35, is the Prime Minister of Finland, a European country. He won the last, 2019 election with the support of a majority of the people. Channa, who lives with her family at the state-owned Prime Minister’s House in Cassandra, has reclaimed Rs 27,000 for her one-month breakfast from the government.
Opposition groups called for the beleagured PM to resign. Police have launched an investigation following reports in the country’s press.
“As a prime minister, I did not ask for a refund. I do not make such decisions. Similar expenses have been reimbursed to those who held office before me, ”said Prime Minister Channa.
Legal experts have commented that ‘recovering the cost of breakfast is illegal in the country’. A senior police official said: “This is not a case of the Prime Minister or his office. An inquiry will be held with the Prime Minister’s Office officials who will receive decisions regarding this.
