Bhopal: Veterinarians across the country celebrated a “black day” with a black belt to protest against BJP MP and animal rights activist Menaka Gandhi who allegedly used unconstitutional language to scold veterinarians.
A nationwide protest call was issued by the Indian Veterinary Medical Association (IVA).
Veterans across the country have vehemently denounced the former Union Minister for using abusive language against them, and Umesh Sharma, chairman of the IVA and Veterinary Council, said in a statement that the protest was blacklisted.
Sharma said that Maneka Gandhi telephoned veterinarians on Tuesday, saying that she used unconstitutional language during the conversation. An audio clip of their telephone conversation has gone viral on social media.
The association has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and BJP President JP Nadda, seeking to take action on the statement, claiming that it would jeopardize the reputation of the saffron party. The Sangh demanded that the BJP MP withdraw his statement and apologize publicly.
During the Corona crisis, more than 150 veterinarians and more than 1,000 paramedics died while serving the country, Sharma said.
